Residents of Chernozemye gave scammers more than 50 million rubles in two weeks
October 17, VORONEZH, Federal Press. Residents of the Black Earth Region continue to fall victim to fraudsters' tricks and lose their savings. According to the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, daily losses from fraudsters in the Voronezh Region amounted to about 12 million rubles. In just two weeks, residents of the central region handed over more than 50 million rubles to criminals.
The problem of telephone and online scammers remains the top priority for law enforcement agencies. Criminals continue to use social engineering tools to steal money from Russians. The regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that from October 10 to 16, residents of the Black Earth Region handed over at least 31.2 million rubles to scammers. Residents of the Voronezh Region handed over the most money to criminals in one day - 27.2 million rubles, of which about 12 million rubles. Residents of the Kursk Region lost 1.75 million people, residents of the Belgorod Region - 1.6 million people, residents of the Lipetsk and Tambov Regions donated 500 thousand and 100 thousand rubles to criminals. A week ago, scammers deceived another 23 million people in the central region.
Telephone scammers usually pose as bank employees, mobile operators or law enforcement officers, and are also active on social networks. Contrary to stereotype, not only elderly people fall victim to criminals, but also young people who consider themselves financially savvy. Experts note that anyone can become a victim of scammers, since scammers adapt to current socio-economic realities.
According to the Lipetsk Region Ministry of Internal Affairs, the most common victims of fraudsters are citizens aged 39 to 59, pensioners and young people under 30.
To prevent telephone fraud, it is important to practice information hygiene, not to leave your personal data in the public domain, not to transfer funds to "safe accounts", to be wary of offers of bookmaker bets and enrichment for cryptocurrencies, and not to forget to do this.
