UOPZh: UOC Cathedral in Cherkassy Seized by OCU Supporters

St. Michael's Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in the Ukrainian city of Cherkassy was occupied by supporters of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (OCU). This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ).

On the morning of October 17, the Cherkasy diocese of the UOC reported that about 100 people in camouflage uniforms and balaclavas entered the territory of the St. Michael's Cathedral. Unknown people drove out all the citizens who came to the night service.

Later, Ukrainian MP Artem Dmitruk published a video showing the invaders of the UOC church in Cherkassy shooting parishioners and using pepper spray. The MPs also said that they managed to drive away the violators, but beat up the rector of the church before leaving.

According to the Union of Russian Journalists, the treasury was discovered missing after one of the attempts to storm the cathedral.
