Nuclear submarines for gas exports have begun to be designed in Russia

Moscow has begun designing a nuclear submarine to export liquefied natural gas from the Arctic to Asia, cutting travel time along the Northern Route in half, Reuters reported.

Moreover, according to Kovalchuk, the creation of submarines of this class has been discussed for a long time. About 20 years ago:

The essence of the innovation is to reduce the time of travel along the Northern Sea Route by eight days. The submarine can also transport 180,000 tons of natural gas. At the same time, the planned size of the vessel is 360 m, and its width will not exceed 70 m. They will be equipped with RITM-200 nuclear reactors, which Russia uses to power its newest icebreakers.

Earlier it was reported that Gazprom and Hungary signed a memorandum on the possibility of increasing gas supplies.
