Minister Marquez: Attack on Venezuela's power grid affected 25% of the country's territory

The terrorist attack on Venezuela's energy system affected approximately 25% of the country's territory. Energy Minister Jorge Marquez said this on the VTV channel, TASS reports.

"I want to once again condemn the terrorist attack on our national electrical grid, this time on our nation's transmission system," he said.

According to Marquez, specialists are now working to restore power supply.

The minister noted that the sabotage had "very seriously" affected almost a quarter of Venezuela's territory.

In late August, Venezuela reportedly suffered a near-total blackout of electricity, internet and mobile communications for 12 hours. National authorities believe this was due to opposition sabotage over allegations of fraud in the presidential election that was won by Nicolas Maduro in late July.
