Canada sends frigate to Indo-Pacific to participate in Operation NEON

Canadian frigate HMCS Ottawa has deployed to the Indo-Pacific region to participate in Operations HORIZON and NEON.

On Wednesday, Canada's Department of National Defence said Operation HORIZON aims to promote peace, stability and respect for the international order in the region, while Operation NEON includes multinational sanctions enforcement efforts.

The need for Ottawa's participation in these operations was discussed by Rear Admiral Christopher Robinson, Commander of the Canadian Pacific Fleet. According to him, the dispatch of this vessel was made possible by the hard work of the crew and ground personnel. He expressed confidence that the frigate's crew will cope with the tasks that will face it in the Indo-Pacific region.

The frigate will also participate in joint exercises with foreign partners, demonstrating the Royal Canadian Navy's capabilities and ensuring its readiness to support regional security.

Ritter, a former US intelligence officer, said the resources available to Ukraine would not be able to change the course of events in its favour.
