The Russian government has halved the quota for temporary residence of immigrants in Russia for 2025. Over the past five years, its size has been decreasing every year. Thus, if in 2021 the Cabinet of Ministers issued more than 39 thousand such permits, then this year there will be only 10.5 thousand, and in 2025 - 5.5 thousand, TASS writes with reference to the corresponding order. All permits will be distributed among the regions of Russia based on Russian applications. Moscow and the Moscow region traditionally benefit the most.
The tightening of immigration laws in Russia has been ongoing since March following the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall near Moscow. After that, 145 people were killed and more than 500 were injured. During this incident, 18 people were arrested, including 4 criminals (citizens of Tajikistan).
