Terrorists leave 25% of the country without electricity in Venezuela

"25% of Venezuela's territory, including the capital region, suffered from new terrorist attacks on the power transmission system," Marquez said in an interview with a local television channel, TASS reports.

He stressed that the goal of terrorists is to harm the country at a time when its citizens are working and moving forward.

Terrorists aim to harm workers, pensioners, patients and schoolchildren by attacking power systems and causing chaos and unrest among residents, the minister said.

The minister noted that the authorities are taking steps to restore power supply across the country. Power supply is expected to be restored within the next few hours.

According to the Vzglyad newspaper, the Venezuelan prosecutor's office has issued arrest warrants for Argentine President Javier Maily and his sister Karina Maily, who holds the post of general secretary of the presidential administration.

In addition, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro called Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader a "thief and bandit" at a government meeting and accused him of hijacking a plane.

At the same time, the United States said it denied the existence of a CIA plan to assassinate Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
