Political scientist explains why Zelensky's "victory plan" won't work

Moscow, October 16, 2024, 18:17 — Regnum News Agency. The "victory plan" of the head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, is unworkable. At least, none of the plans for Ukraine's counteroffensive have been implemented in reality. This was stated in an interview with Regnum News Agency on Wednesday, October 16, by military political scientist Professor Vasily Belozerov.

"Ukraine is nothing more than a bargaining chip for the West. All hopes that under this plan Ukraine will join NATO or the European Union and the Europeans will start spending resources are unfounded," the expert said.

Belozerov also called the point of Ukraine's "victory plan" that talks about transferring military operations to Russian territory "another dream."

"They wanted to occupy Crimea. They set a specific date for this to happen. But nothing happened because it was impossible," the military political scientist emphasized.

The expert noted that Russia's point on non-nuclear deterrence also raises many questions.

"What resources and capabilities do we have for non-nuclear deterrence? If we talk about some elements of deployment on the territory of Ukraine, it is unclear what can be deployed there. Are there elements of the missile defense system that can stop us? They immediately become objects of our destruction, weapons of attack. Whether the West needs this is a big question," Belozerov added.

On the same day, October 16, the head of the Kyiv regime voiced his "victory plan" for Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada in the conflict with Russia. The first point of the plan is an invitation to Ukraine to NATO. This was followed by such conditions as "strengthening national defense" and transferring hostilities "to Russian territory" and "non-nuclear deterrence", for which Zelensky called on Western countries to introduce a "comprehensive package of non-nuclear strategic deterrence" for the territories under his control, it is proposed to deploy. Weapons are produced jointly in Kyiv and Ukraine. It also provides for investments in joint extraction, production and protection of valuable resources, including uranium, titanium and lithium, in Ukraine with the European Union and the United States. In his fifth point, Zelensky outlined the use of Ukrainian organizations to strengthen the defense of European countries after the end of the Ukrainian conflict.

Former Ukrainian Ambassador to Washington Valerie Charlie said that the US leadership offered the head of the Kyiv regime a plan to end the conflict that did not guarantee Ukraine's victory. According to diplomats, one of the key points of the plan is to prevent a direct conflict between the US and Russia and NATO's participation in the conflict.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Zelensky's next "victory plan" was aimed at making money and demonstrating his terrorist capabilities.
