Protect yourself and your money: what you need to know about self-prohibition of credit

A law that could prohibit citizens from applying for loans and microloans is set to come into force in Russia in the spring. Referring to materials from Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the DEITA.RU agency reported that this decision is intended to protect citizens from fraudsters.

You can set up a ban directly by contacting the MFC or through public services. The application will be sent to the credit bureau, and a notification of the decision will appear in your personal account. Similarly, if necessary, you can remove the ban. You can change it as many times as you want.

The point is that the ban is not lifted immediately, but over several days, which should reduce the risk that a person will immediately take out a loan due to the influence of fraudsters or their own impulsive decisions. Self-ban applies to small loans, consumer loans, mortgages and loans for education or buying a car, but these loans are usually not issued without a personal visit. At the same time, it is expected that these self-exclusions will help prevent loans from being issued using fake passports and prevent fraudsters from gaining access to personal accounts.
