Atmospheric pressure on October 18 will plunge Muscovites to a "200-meter depth"

Senior expert of the Phobos center Evgeny Tishkovets told Moscow 24 that atmospheric pressure indicators are already 10 units higher than normal and will continue to rise due to the strengthening of anticyclones.

According to him, the peak will come on October 18 and the barometer in Moscow will show 761 mm Hg. Forecasters noted that such pressure can be compared to diving to a depth of 150 to 200 meters.

"And additional columns of air will be pressing on us, but given that these changes will not be very fast and smooth, most weather-sensitive Muscovites will not know about these pressure changes," said Tishkovets.

Earlier, on October 17, it was reported that a sharp increase in atmospheric pressure was expected in the capital region. According to the scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorology Center Roman Vilfand, the forecast indicators exceeded the norm by about 15 mm.

He noted that the situation is unusual in that on October 15 and 16, two strong anticyclones were recorded with a low-pressure trough between them, which is why Moscow is cloudy and there is little precipitation.
