The local health ministry said two young patients suffering from a rare genetic disorder were given Elevidis, one of the most expensive drugs in the world.
The gene replacement drug costs about $3 million. Four-year-old Mikhail and five-year-old Victor received the life-saving drugs. They suffer from Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The disease causes rapid muscle damage and failure.
Russia was one of the first countries to approve the use of the drug. Since June, 43 Russian children have already received the book.
