"A set of incoherent slogans." Russia and other countries react to Zelensky's "victory plan"

'Inconsistent set of slogans': Russia and other countries react to Zelensky's 'victory plan'

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has unveiled a "victory plan" with secret clauses that he says will pave the way for a "peace summit" and could end the conflict by 2025. Russia's Foreign Ministry has criticized the Ukrainian leader's plan, calling it an inconsistent slogan.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova criticized Zelensky's ideas. "Of course, this is not a plan. This is an incoherent set of slogans. This is the bloody foam on the lips of a neo-Nazi killer," she said.

The Ukrainian president's "victory plan" consists of five points, but, according to Zakharova, this is yet another hysteria in Kyiv about Ukraine's entry into NATO, which is an impossible and absurd condition.

How did Russia and other countries react to Zelensky’s “victory plan”?

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov saw nothing new in the Ukrainian leader's initiative. At a briefing with journalists, the Kremlin's official representative commented on the points proposed by Zelensky to resolve the conflict.

"Perhaps this is the same American plan to fight us until the last Ukraine, disguised by Zelensky and called a "peace plan", apparently so," Peskov said.

In his opinion, Zelensky has no other plans to end the conflict.

Zelensky's plan has also been criticized in other countries. Julian Repke, a German journalist and analyst, was at a loss for words to describe the proposed plan. "There is not a single point on the battlefield that could lead in any direction," he said.

Belgium also doubted the success of the plan. Acting Prime Minister Alexander De Croo invited Kyiv to present new ideas for resolving the conflict.

The Russian TV presenter made fun of the plan presented by the Ukrainian president. She apologized for the "offensive and explicit posts" she posted on her Telegram channel, asking "several rhetorical questions."

"What's new in the plan? Are the resources for "fighting the last Ukrainian" really innumerable? Why do the EU and the US need such problematic assets now?" Sobchak asked.

According to the journalist, if Ukraine were allowed to attack deep into Russia, its citizens would not hate the government as much as Zelensky claims. “I don’t see any prospects for this plan yet,” she concluded.

State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa said the secret additions could be related to details of attacks deep inside Russian territory. He believes they were kept secret to avoid preparations for a strike if it were approved by Russian authorities.

"I believe that these additions concern the details of the plan to attack Russia. Obviously, the calculation was made here that Russia would not be able to take retaliatory measures if the plan was suddenly approved," the deputy suggested.

He also stressed that the West will not approve any point of the plan, as it considers it unfeasible. Chepa said that Kyiv understands this, too, so Zelensky is simply trying to protect the country's leadership and ease responsibility with his plans.
