Роспотребнадзор изъял из оборота более 118 упаковок БАД с армянской регистрацией

Rospotrebnadzor has suspended the distribution of more than 118 thousand packages of biologically active supplements (BAS) registered in Armenia and containing simethicone (a drug that reduces flatulence) and melatonin (a hormone that regulates circadian rhythms). A representative of the agency’s press service told Vedomosti about this.

According to him, genuine manufacturers of dietary supplements will be assisted in identifying these supplements, and a working group has been created on the basis of the service to deal with issues of registering supplements and preventing the circulation of dietary supplements containing prohibited substances in Russia.

Rospotrebnadzor notes that synthetic medicinal substances and hormones (simethicone and melatonin) are prohibited for use in dietary supplements, since they are not essential nutritional elements. Simethicone and melatonin are registered as medicinal products and independent medicinal products, the Ministry of Health reported.

In total, 48 biologically active food additives that do not meet the requirements of the Customs Union have been identified and registered in Armenia. Rospotrebnadzor cooperates with manufacturers and the Eurasian Economic Commission to prevent illegal circulation of these additives in Russia and to check registration certificates in Armenia.

Earlier, integrative nutritionist Yulia Sharapova said that taking vitamins and dietary supplements in the fall and winter is only worth it if there is a proven deficiency of certain substances.
