It has become known who Jimmy Carter voted for early

Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, cast an early vote for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, the New York Times reported.

The U.S. election isn't until November 5, but Americans will be able to vote early in person or by mail. In some states, voters have the right to request a ballot up to six weeks before Election Day.

Jason Carter, the former president's grandson, said he was "especially happy" that his 100-year-old grandfather voted for Harris.

The man noted that his grandfather's ballot paper was dropped into a ballot box at the local courthouse.

Reporters explained that Carter had lived for years in Plains, a tidy town in southwest Georgia, and voted in Sumter County, where many people still know him as "Mr. Jimmy."

They said former presidents regularly vote in general elections, primaries and special elections. In recent years, he has voted only by mail.
