Michkov scores first goal in NHL career

Russian Matvey Michkov scored his first career goal in Game 3 in Philadelphia.

Russian forward Matvey Michkov, who plays for the Philadelphia Flyers, scored his first goal in the National Hockey League (NHL), RIA Novosti reports.

The youngster took advantage of his numerical superiority to open the scoring in the first five minutes of the game against the Edmonton Oilers in Edmonton. The achievement marked a career milestone for the 19-year-old Michikov, as the goal came in his third official game with Philadelphia.

According to the Vzglyad newspaper, Russian junior hockey team players Matvey Michkov and Danila Yurov have decided to remain in Canada for a 10-day quarantine. In Sochi, law enforcement officers have begun searching for Andrei Michkov, the father of hockey player Matvey Michkov. Russian junior hockey players have appealed to the IIHF with a request to return the team to the World Championship.
