Two ex-ministers detained in metro construction case

Former Finance Minister Andrei Pryamilov was detained in the Samara Region. This was reported on Thursday, October 17, by the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein.

Pryamilov became the second representative of the team of former Samara Region Governor Dmitry Azarov to be detained that day. Former regional construction minister Nikolai Plakshin was also detained.

Both detainees are accused of abuse of office (paragraph 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to investigators, the officials falsified documents and tender procedures for the construction of the Teatralnaya metro station.

Earlier, the prosecutor's office demanded 12 years in a maximum security penal colony and a fine of 6 million rubles from former deputy mayor of Vladivostok Alexey Leifer. The former civil servant was charged with corruption crimes that caused damage exceeding 20 million rubles.

Meanwhile, the court has frozen the Moscow Region assets of Defense Ministry Lieutenant General Yuri Kuznetsov: bank accounts and military real estate worth 300 million rubles. The general is accused of receiving land as a bribe from a Krasnodar businessman.
