"I just woke up and I'm already tired" has become a classic phrase to describe chronic fatigue. In fact, some people feel a lack of strength and energy for work and other daily activities immediately after waking up. Sometimes this is relatively easy to fix, and sometimes it requires treatment and lifestyle changes. Experts explained to colleagues from NGS.RU when a power outage is an alarming signal to seek help.

"Such symptoms may appear in foci of infection in the body, tonsillitis, chronic pyelonephritis, sinusitis, long-term and untreated diseases. It may also be a sign of cancer or depression. This specific symptom occurs in many diseases," explained endocrinologist Natalia Michurina.

— After this, you may feel pain and fatigue, but this should gradually pass. This should be taken into account if complaints of weakness persist after an acute respiratory viral infection, pneumonia or other illness or are not related to the illness. “Many patients say that this fatigue persists for years,” the endocrinologist noted.

Workaholism and caring for others

In addition to illness, external factors can also cause chronic fatigue. These include stressful situations such as family or work, lack of sleep, and the habit of going to bed late and getting up early, explains Natalia Michurina. Poor nutrition and lack of physical activity have negative consequences.

Chronic fatigue can also be a sign of a psychological disorder, such as depression, borderline state, addiction, bipolar disorder or anxiety. As clinical psychologist Amalia Asaturyan explains, before making such a diagnosis, it is necessary to conduct an examination and exclude dysfunctions of organs and systems.

It is important to note that the diagnosis of personality disorder is usually made when the patient is 18 years old, before which time the personality is still being formed and the diagnosis may be inaccurate.

— Internal factors that cause chronic fatigue are personality traits formed on the basis of genetic predisposition, family and society. From a psychological point of view, if a person spends most of his time focusing on the lives of other people, their emotions and needs, over time he will accumulate chronic fatigue. If you have constant background anxiety and you do not even know the reason for this condition, you will experience chronic fatigue,” explained Amalia Asaturyan.

Doubting yourself, your decisions, goals, lifestyle, and opinions can also cause these symptoms. Additionally, if you rely heavily on approval, social status, and recognition from others, you may feel fatigued.

It is usually difficult to independently understand the causes of chronic fatigue. Therefore, when these symptoms appear, it is better to seek help from a doctor than to self-medicate. If an examination reveals a disease that causes symptoms, treatment is required first.

If a person is physically healthy, general recommendations are usually given: prevention of sleep disorders, avoidance of stress, taking a contrast shower, walking, moderate physical activity. Sometimes they prescribe taking multivitamins, tonics, or recommend consulting a psychologist or psychotherapist. Each case requires an individual approach.
