The number will be disconnected: new rules for using mobile communications have been introduced in Russia

From now on, every Russian who does not use a mobile phone for a long time runs the risk of taking out a loan without money.

Candidate for deputy Irina Sivakova tells DEITA.RU that in September the rules for using mobile communications changed in Russia.

As the expert explains, the new regulation stipulates that the inactivity of a subscriber of communications services for 90 days, or, if established by the contract, a longer period, entails automatic termination and disconnection of the number.

Previously, all Russian telecom operators could, at their own discretion, include such conditions in their contracts with citizens, and the minimum period of "downtime" of SIM cards varied. This is not regulated at the legislative level, this is stated on the portal of legal subtleties.

This rule is now mandatory for all subscribers. If a citizen does not use communication for three months, the SIM card and the number linked to it will be disconnected. This situation opens up a wide range of opportunities for fraudsters.

According to the lawyer, after blocking the number, the operator has the right to reissue the SIM card and transfer the blocked number to a new subscriber. As a result, the attackers began a real hunt to find such used numbers.

The thing is that the previous owner's account in public services or mobile banking may be "linked" to the phone number. So, if you have the same number, you can easily access these services.

To avoid getting into such a situation, the lawyer advised all Russians to very carefully monitor the use of SIM cards issued in their name and numbers connected to important services.
