Trump Calls Zelensky Guilty of Conflict in Ukraine

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has said Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is to blame for the Ukrainian conflict, Politico reports.

"He (Zelensky) should never have allowed this war to start," Trump said.

In addition, the Republican candidate blamed the conflict on the current US President Joe Biden. President Trump has repeatedly emphasized that this conflict would not have happened if he were the head of state. The politician noted, among other things, that Zelensky receives a huge amount of money from the US budget every time he visits the country.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has previously acknowledged that Ukraine will not be the next country to join the alliance. He stressed that the organization is trying to make Kyiv's path to NATO irreversible.

In response to Zelensky's call to offer Ukraine an invitation to join the alliance before the end of the conflict as the highest form of security guarantee, Rutte noted that the best guarantees are arms supplies and bilateral security agreements with NATO countries.
