Rabies cases have risen sharply in the Voronezh region
In the Voronezh region, the incidence of rabies has almost doubled.
According to Rospotrebnadzor, the incidence of rabies in the Voronezh region has almost doubled compared to the same period last year.
Since the beginning of the year, 43 cases of laboratory-confirmed rabies in animals have been registered in 18 districts of the region. During the same period last year, 24 cases of infection were detected in 11 regions.
The number of victims of zoonotic infectious diseases increased from 37 to 98. The number of people seeking medical help after being bitten by a wild animal fell from 5,639 to 5,495 this year. Last year, the number was 259.
Rabies was most often diagnosed in cats and dogs. 15 cats, 14 dogs, 12 foxes and 2 cows fell ill.
Remember that rabies is a dangerous disease with a 100% mortality rate. Sanitary doctors reminded that it is better to avoid contact with stray animals. If bitten, you should immediately contact a doctor and get vaccinated.
