Peskov: Saudi Arabia's participation in BRICS will be discussed at the summit in Kazan
Peskov said that Saudi Arabia's status in BRICS will become clear after the summit in Kazan.
He called on the association to wait for the results of the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan to sum up the status of Saudi Arabia, TASS reports.
Peskov stressed that the final decision on the nature of Riyadh’s participation will depend on the results of the summit.
According to the Vzglyad newspaper, the Sri Lankan authorities have announced their intention to apply for BRICS membership, considering it a strategic step towards strengthening economic cooperation. Serbia is also considering joining BRICS as an alternative to EU membership, given the growing attractiveness of BRICS for countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
