Biography of Stanislav Pozdnyakov

Pozdnyakov Stanislav Alekseevich was born on September 27, 1973 in Novosibirsk. In 1999 he graduated from the Faculty of Physical Education and Culture of the Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University. I studied in graduate school at this university.

In 1982, he began training at the Youth Sports School for Pre-Olympic Fencing, the Spartak Youth Sports School (Novosibirsk). Specialization: sabre fencer. In 1992, he joined the national team. He played for CSKA. Four-time Olympic champion in sabre fencing (1992, 1996, 2000), 10-time world champion, 13-time European champion. He ended his playing career in 2008.

From 2005 to 2010, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Novosibirsk Regional Council of the Russian Federation. Since 2008, he has been the state head coach of the Russian national fencing team (all types of weapons). He served as Vice President from 2009 to 2013 and President of the European Fencing Federation from 2016 to 2022.

From December 2016 to March 2017, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA). From December 2016 to May 2018, he held the position of First Vice President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).

In February 2018, he headed the delegation of the Russian Olympic team at the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

On May 29, 2018, at the Moscow Olympic Conference, he was elected President of the ROC. Alexander Zhukov, who had headed the organization since 2010, did not participate in the elections. On December 20, 2022, he was unanimously re-elected for a new term. He was the only candidate in the elections for the President of the Russian Orthodox Church.

2018-2023 – Chairman of the Committee of the Association of National Olympic Committees on Education and Culture. Since 2018 – Member of the Committee for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports under the President of the Russian Federation.

Honored Master of Sports of the USSR and Russia. Colonel of the Russian Army. Alexander Nevsky was awarded the Order of Friendship "For Services to the Fatherland" IV degree. He was awarded the medal of the II degree "For Services to the Fatherland". Member of the Hall of Fame of the International Fencing Federation.

Married. His wife Anastasia Pozdnyakova is a master of sports in fencing. Daughter: sabre fencer Sofia, 2018 individual world champion, 2019 team world champion, 2021 Olympic champion in individual and team events, basketball player Anna.
