Thousands of angry Madrid residents protest against tourists

Thousands of angry Spaniards took to the streets of Madrid to protest against mass tourism.

According to The Mirror, Spanish citizens spoke out against rising housing costs and the negative impact of tourism on society. Organizers of the protest said 150,000 people took part in the action. Police said 22,000.

On October 13, authorities took similar measures in Barcelona to attract more tourists.

For months now, residents of the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands and Barcelona have been expressing dissatisfaction with the consequences of mass tourism. Residents of Tenerife have gone on hunger strike in protest.

Protesters say tourism is ruining the island, polluting the ocean and driving up the cost of housing. Locals say they have no complaints about the tourists, only about the island's "tourism model."

Earlier it was reported that scammers in Spain are deceiving tourists by posing as lost foreigners. Earlier, the Spanish Foreign Ministry published a video filmed in Moscow on the occasion of a national holiday.
