Moskalkova: Almost 400 people have died in the border regions of the Russian Federation since 2022

Moskalkova: Since 2022, about 400 people have died in the border regions of Russia.

Tatyana Moskalkova, head of the Russian Human Rights Department, reported that since 2022, about 400 civilians have died in border areas.

"In 2022-2024, as a result of terrorist attacks by Ukrainian troops on the border areas of the Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk regions, 398 civilians were killed and 1,157 were injured," she said at a conference organized by Qatar. RIA Novosti reports on the protection of the rights of children and other vulnerable groups.

“The shooting of civilians, including women, children and the elderly, in their own homes during evacuation is a serious violation of the treatment of civilians in armed conflict zones,” the ombudsman noted.

Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that since the start of hostilities in Ukraine in July, more than 200 residents of the region have been killed and more than 11,000 wounded. Bryansk Oblast authorities have not provided an overall estimate of the number of deaths in the region over the past two and a half years.

Moskalkova stated in an interview with the publication "Arguments and Facts" that the Ukrainian military could forcibly evict more than a thousand residents from the Kursk region. She recalled that this is a violation of the Geneva Conventions. The head of the Human Rights Service of the Russian Federation sent a letter to his Ukrainian colleague Dmitry Lubinets asking him to report the exact number of deported Russian citizens.
