Russia begins joint military exercises with Pakistan "Friendship-2024"
The training will take place from October 14 to 26 at the Fabi Counter Terrorism Centre in Pakistan. In particular, the militaries plan to cooperate in efforts to eradicate illegal armed groups in mountainous areas.
The opening ceremony was held at the National Anti-Terrorism Centre Pabbi. It all started with the raising of the flags of both countries and the playing of national anthems. During the event, the representative of the Pakistan Armed Forces in his welcoming speech noted the importance of the strategic partnership and friendship between Russia and Pakistan and its positive impact on regional security.
The training will take place from October 14 to 26 at the Fabi Center in Pakistan. The Defense Ministry reported that servicemen from the motorized rifle unit of the Southern Military District, stationed in the Volgograd Region, will take part in the operation. They were delivered to the training ground the day before on a military transport aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces Il-76.
During the exercises, Russian and Pakistani forces will work out cooperation in eliminating illegal armed groups in the mountainous region. They will also work out reconnaissance, search and reconnaissance, and ambush operations in mountainous and forested areas.
The joint tactical exercises are aimed at strengthening and developing military cooperation between the two countries, the ministry said.
The joint Friendship exercises with Pakistan have been held since 2016.
