Nutritionist Solomatina lists products against autumn blues

Foods containing vitamins C, D and B will help you cope with autumn depression. For good health, you should also drink a lot of water, nutritionist Elena Solomatina told Moscow 24.

According to her, gut health affects a person's emotional state.

"Anxiety, depression and depression depend on our microbiome," the expert said. "If everything is normal, substances will be produced that affect the central nervous system, and the mediator will regulate the person's condition," he noted.

Vitamin D is important for mood and energy. It is found in fatty wild fish such as cod liver, red and black caviar, herring, mackerel and sardines. It can also be obtained from morel and chanterelle mushrooms, listed in Solomatina.

Among other things, depression can appear due to a lack of vitamin C. It is found in large quantities in bell peppers, sauerkraut and rosehip decoctions.

The expert also recommended eating 500 grams of fiber-rich vegetables and fruits daily. Fermented milk products are also useful - kefir, fermented baked milk, sour milk. All this helps improve bowel function and support the microbiome, Solomatina explained.

Antioxidant-rich foods such as pumpkin, tomatoes, blueberries, plums, and green tea also help improve your mood. In addition, dehydration – a hidden lack of water – often leads to poor health. Experts recommend drinking it daily at a rate of 30 ml per 1 kg of body weight.

Russians have previously been warned that coffee can cause depression. Excessive coffee consumption can cause tension, anxiety and sleep problems. Sweets also cause poor health because they quickly raise blood sugar levels and then immediately lower them.
