Trump has not ruled out using US military against riots on election day

Washington, October 14, 2024, 09:03 — Regnum News Agency. The National Guard or US troops could be used to combat potential unrest on the day of the US presidential election. This proposal was made by former US President Donald Trump and the Republican candidate for the post of head of state on October 13.

"We have very bad people in this country, sick people, leftist lunatics. The National Guard will handle it if necessary, and if there is an emergency, the military will handle it," he told Fox News.

Trump said potential problems on Election Day come from the “enemy within,” not immigrants, although he did not specify who he meant.

As reported by the Regnum agency, on October 12, Chad Bianco, the sheriff of Riverside County, California, USA, said that he was preventing a third assassination attempt on Trump. According to him, before the presidential candidate's speech, a man was detained at a checkpoint who was trying to bring in a shotgun, a loaded pistol, and a magazine with large-capacity ammunition.

The FBI said the October 14 arrest of a man with a loaded firearm near the site of President Trump's speech was not considered an attempt to kill the politician. The man is reportedly a member of an anti-government far-right group and may have had the weapon for personal protection.

Trump was shot at a campaign rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania, on July 13. He suffered a minor injury to his ear. A second attempt occurred on September 15 while playing golf in West Palm Beach, Florida. The politician was not injured in the incident.
