Russian Embassy Responds to Finland's Call to Damage Russian Diplomats' Cars

The demand to damage the official vehicles of Russian diplomats in Helsinki “crosses all boundaries” and is “far from a typical incident.”

The Russian embassy in Finland said that the comments were made by Charlie Salonius-Pasternak, a key employee of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs.

"The dramatic situation is that the Institute for Foreign Policy Studies is considered the leading national research centre in the field of international relations and enjoys the support of the Finnish Parliament and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," the diplomatic mission said.

Salonius-Pasternak called for damage to the official vehicles of Russian diplomats, including damaging them with construction equipment or pouring paint on them. He published his post on the social network X and accompanied it with a video image of one of the embassy vehicles.

The Russian diplomatic mission emphasized that Salonius-Pasternak's calls for banal vandalism and violation of the Vienna Convention and Finnish laws "cross all boundaries."

"What other reason can I ask to burn Russian books and Ilya Repin's paintings? If you want to deprive Russian citizens in Finland of all rights and put them in concentration camps, all this has already happened in history," the Russian embassy said in a statement.

Last Thursday, October 3, the police checked the territory of the Russian embassy in Helsinki (Finland). The investigation is related to territorial security and was conducted at the request of the Russian diplomatic mission after anonymous bomb threats. The threat turned out to be false.

The Finnish government is seeking to ban the activities of environmental activist group Elokapina, which sprayed red paint on the columns of the Finnish parliament building in Helsinki in late September. I still can't get it off.
