The Kremlin commented on NATO exercises amid the "hot" phase of the conflict with Ukraine

Moscow, October 14, FederalPress. NATO nuclear exercises against the backdrop of the military conflict in Ukraine will only exacerbate tensions. This was reported by the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov at a daily briefing.

Dmitry Peskov noted that against the backdrop of the "hot" stage of the conflict, such measures do not contribute to stabilizing the situation. The exercises, called "Steady Noon", involving 2,000 troops and about 60 aircraft from 13 countries, will begin on October 14 in Northern Europe.

He also stressed that Russia has never moved military infrastructure to NATO borders, but rather the expansion of the alliance has been in the opposite direction. According to him, all NATO steps to bring infrastructure closer to the border with Russia are known, which raises the question of who really poses a threat.

Commenting on statements by German Federal Intelligence Director Bruno Karl that Russia could attack a NATO member before the end of the 2010s, Peskov said the following in the context of the involvement of nuclear powers in the Ukrainian conflict, such as the United States: Britain and France cannot discuss reducing their nuclear potential without considering other security aspects.

Earlier, Peskov mentioned the discussed plan to introduce a childlessness tax in Russia and assessed its prospects.
