Peskov: Nuclear disarmament talks require taking security into account
Peskov stated that negotiations on nuclear disarmament are impossible without taking into account security issues.
Peskov noted that it is impossible to discuss disarmament without linking it to other aspects of security in the context of a war with Russia involving nuclear powers such as the United States, Great Britain and France. He recalled in a TASS report that the Russian president had already spoken out on this topic, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive approach.
Peskov added that contacts on nuclear arms reductions cannot be postponed and all issues must be considered in the light of the current situation. He said Russia considers such talks necessary, but noted that security must remain at the center of discussions.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden said he was ready to begin negotiations with Russia, China and North Korea on reducing nuclear weapons without preconditions.
