Putin to Receive Credentials from Foreign Ambassadors

Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to receive credentials from new ambassadors representing 28 countries. The event will take place in the Kremlin's Alexander Hall on November 5 and will be the first to be held in 2024.

The last such incident occurred on December 4, 2023, when the Russian leader received credentials from 21 diplomats.

Among the invited diplomats will be representatives of unfriendly countries. Among those who arrived specifically to present the documents were Japanese Ambassador Akira Muto, Canadian diplomat Sarah Taylor and Israeli special envoy Simon Halperin. Representatives from Italy, Spain and other European and Asian countries are also expected to attend.

The credentials to the Russian President will also be presented by the Ambassador of India Vinay Kumar, the Belarusian diplomat Alexander Rogoznik, the ambassadors of Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Armenia. The guest list also includes the ambassadors of Myanmar, Burkina Faso, Malaysia, Kenya, Ethiopia and other countries.

The presentation of credentials symbolizes the beginning of the diplomatic mission of the Russian ambassador and is traditionally accompanied by a speech by the president, in which he highlights the main trends in international politics and bilateral relations with the countries whose representatives are present at the event.

Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov reported receiving threats of physical violence against Russian diplomats working in Washington. He also mentioned provocative protests with slogans against the Russian leadership.
