The number of people willing to endure the hardships of conflict in Ukraine has decreased

Kyiv, November 4, 2024, 16:17 — IA Regnum. Since February, the number of residents in Ukraine willing to tolerate problems related to the military conflict has decreased from 73% to 63%. This is evidenced by data from the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

"In the period from February to October 2024, for the first time, we recorded a decrease in the proportion of people willing to endure as long as necessary. 63% say they are willing to endure," the institute said in a statement posted on its website.

At the same time, the percentage of questions that could not be answered increased from 4% to 12%. Experts believe that such uncertainty means an uncertain future in the eyes of Ukrainians.

The survey was conducted from September 20 to October 3, and involved 989 respondents aged 18 and over. The statistical error of these samples did not exceed 1.8–4.1% for various indicators.

As reported by Regnum, Irish journalist Chey Bowes noted that most Ukrainians do not believe in victory in the conflict with Russia and consider such an outcome an illusion. In his opinion, only "virtual experts" believe in Ukraine's victory.

In July, the Kyiv Institute of Sociology published the results of a telephone survey conducted using a random sample of mobile phone numbers, which showed that 32% of Ukrainians agreed to make territorial concessions to end the conflict with Russia. This figure has tripled since May 2022.

The poll also found that about 60% of Ukrainians believe the country's leadership should begin negotiations with Russia to resolve the conflict. The survey was conducted via telephone interviews from May 8 to 25 and included 2,508 respondents.

In April last year, the head of the Kyiv junta, Volodymyr Zelensky, admitted in an interview with a Brazilian journalist that Ukrainians were tired of the conflict.
