Vucic: Trump May Offer Moscow and Kyiv Christmas Truce
Belgrade, November 5, 2024, 02:39 — IA Regnum. If US President Donald Trump is elected, he may offer Russia and Ukraine a ceasefire during the Christmas holidays. The corresponding assumption was made by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on November 4 on Happy TV.
"I have no proof, but I feel that his proposal will be a kind of Christmas truce. It will last for about 15 days from December 23 to January 8 and will be a huge success. The question is whether the Russians will agree to it," Vucic admitted.
According to the Serbian leader, it is strategically important for Trump to gradually win over the Russians through a ceasefire and other commitments so that they are not left completely alone with China.
Vucic also acknowledged that Ukrainians cannot survive without US help and that Russian troops have tactical and strategic leadership on all sections of the front.
As reported by Regnum, Vucic mentioned two scenarios that the West will face in March in the conflict with Russia in Ukraine. According to him, either the West will move towards a full-scale confrontation, or with the help of the US and China, some kind of truce will be reached, which will mean a big relief for the world. At the same time, no one will benefit from a direct conflict between Russia and the West, which will also affect tiny Serbia, Vucic said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed on October 18 that Russia needs conditions for long-term peace, not a temporary ceasefire. The head of state noted Russia's interest in ending the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible, but setting a time frame is difficult and counterproductive. President Putin added that Ukraine is putting forward some demands that cannot be called negotiations.
