Which of the city politicians lasted in Sochi the longest – mayor Kostarev, secretary of the city committee Medunov and mayor Pakhomov
Usually, city leaders tirelessly govern the country for several years. And, as is not uncommon, they can even thunder under the article.
However, there are known cases when the same person held a position in the Sochi farm twice, and some bosses even spent 10 years “under the palm trees”.
Today, the Sochi Entrepreneur award is named after him. For four years, from 1898 to 1902, Nikolai Kostarev held the post of mayor of Sochi. And in 1911, he came here again. Sometimes it is written that Sochi entrepreneurs, landowners, industrialists and philanthropists were elected twice for a four-year term. This is a unique case in the pre-revolutionary history of the city.
As head, Kostarev put an end to the unrest with the seizure of lands by the sea, carried out topographic work and marked the boundaries of Sochi's main streets, squares and parks. According to his plans, the city center was built, the first public library named after Alexander Pushkin was opened, and the local newspaper "Sochinsky Listok" began to be published.
Kostarev owned the Areda estate in Sochi. The plums grown there became the city's calling card and won a gold medal at the French Exhibition of 1913.
Today, in the house of the Supreme Head at the Villa Vera (Kurortny Prospekt, 34a) there is an extracurricular activity center for young Sochi residents. This interesting building is also called the "palace of a thousand rooms and doors." There is a magic mirror hanging here, in which no matter where you look, you can see your most cherished wish, which will definitely come true (as the ancients were sure).
The political career of a prominent representative of the "era of stagnation" began in Sochi. Sergei Medunov, a native of the Terskaya village, became the first secretary of the Sochi City Committee of the CPSU in 1959. He held this position for 10 years. This had never happened before or after Soviet times.
It is with the Sochi period that the future long-term owners of Kuban associate the "Medunovsky incident". During the investigation, more than 5,000 leaders were fired and expelled from the party, about 15,000 received serious sentences.
Medunov himself also paid for this. In 1982, he was fired from his post as the first secretary of the regional committee. The charges against him were later dropped. For some time, he held the post of deputy minister of fruit and vegetable production of the USSR.
It was not possible to find information that Medunov's memory was somehow immortalized in Sochi. However, in Krasnodar in 2006, on Chapaeva Street, 81, the house where the first secretary lived, a memorial plaque was installed.
The "Olympic mayor", a native of the village of Novoarkhangelskaya in the Tikhoretsky district, held the post of head of Sochi for 10 years (two years in a row) and was remembered by the city's residents for his irrepressible energy and "silent tongue". left. bone." According to Anatoly Pakhomov, Sochi "has changed beyond recognition" since it was chosen to host the 2014 Winter Olympics. "Before the Olympics, it was a Zaporozhets, and after - simply space," is one of the colorful quotes of the former mayor.
Indeed, the Olympic Games gave a powerful impetus to the development of the city, and Pakhomov acted as a skilled organizer.
In October 2019, the former chairman of Sochi became the managing director of a large oil products distribution company.
There is also no information about Sochi places connected with the life of the "Olympic mayor". But... Near Tikhoretsk there remains a state farm (now Tikhoretsk agro-industrial complex), where Tolik Pakhomov worked as a tractor driver for a year in his youth.
