Sandu wins Moldovan presidential election
CEC: Sandu won the presidential elections in Moldova, receiving 55.3% of the votes.
The current head of the republic, Maia Sandu, won the presidential elections in Moldova. This was reported by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
As a result of 100% processing of the protocol, Sandu won the presidential elections in Moldova, gaining 55.33% of the votes. Her opponent, former Prosecutor General Alexandru Stoianoglo, received 44.67% of support in the second round of voting.
Earlier it was reported that Stoianoglo won the elections, gaining 51.19% of the votes after 100% processing of the protocols of the polling stations of Moldova. These data were confirmed by the National Electoral Commission.
As Moldovan political scientist Alexander Korinenko explains, the votes of the foreign diaspora helped Sandu win the second round of elections. In his opinion, this "significantly exacerbated the split in Moldovan society."
