Russian Minister of Education Allows for Shortening of School Terms
The issue of reducing the duration of study is not being discussed, although “other options” are possible in the future. This was stated by the Russian Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.
"There may be other options in the future, but I do not rule them out. But today's decision is that we have 11 classes and no changes are planned in the near future," Kravtsov said in "Knowledge. The First "Knowledge" about Russian Society.
According to a study by the job search service Superjob, a third of Russians surveyed believe that the length of schooling should be reduced. Respondents cited the experience of the Soviet Union, where schools consisted of 10 classes and the quality of education was high. At the same time, about 60% of respondents were against reducing the length of schooling.
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the idea of strengthening the Russian educational program is plausible and is being discussed with experts, RT reports. Vladimir Medinsky, presidential adviser and president of the Russian Military Historical Society, wrote in the National News Service that the length of education in Russian schools and universities could be shortened to provide early career guidance for teenagers. However, the State Duma is confident that this will reduce the quality of education.
