Zakharova explained Russia's main miscalculation in front of the West
According to Zakharova, many Western politicians realized that they could not defeat Russia on the battlefield and resorted to manipulation and deception. Thus, even after the victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War, Russia's geopolitical opponents did not abandon their intentions and were able to change their tactics and achieve certain successes.
Zakharova recalled that the victory in the war was achieved at the cost of enormous sacrifices and the combined efforts of multinational peoples. At the same time, despite this victory, Russia relaxed and believed in the West's promises of friendship, which ultimately led to the current difficulties.
Diplomats sometimes pointed out the naivety of openness to foreign cultures that contradict the domestic one. Hostile ideas often penetrate society under the guise of entertainment, so they need to be treated more critically, Zakharova is convinced.
A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman concluded in an interview with Tsargrad that the Russian Federation should publicly discuss this issue and take action against it in order to prevent further attempts at manipulation by Western countries.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that NATO was planning to wage a "defensive war" thousands of miles from the country's borders. Political scientist Karaganov also believes that Russia is returning nuclear deterrence to its foreign policy strategy.
