Ukraine is ready to negotiate with Russia on one condition
Ukraine has agreed to negotiate with Russia on energy security issues in the presence of a mediator, Reuters reports, citing a senior representative of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"Ukraine is not against Qatar or any other country becoming a mediator in talks between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on energy security issues," Reuters reports. The Financial Times reported earlier that Ukraine and Russia had resumed talks on ending mutual attacks on energy infrastructure with Qatar as the mediator. According to a senior Ukrainian official, the frequency of attacks on energy facilities on both sides has already decreased as a result of a preliminary agreement between the countries.
On the morning of August 6, Ukrainian troops attacked Russian units guarding the border in the area of the villages of Nikoyevo-Daryino and Oleshnya in the Kursk region. Eleven tanks, more than 20 armored vehicles and about 300 soldiers took part in the attack, the National News Service recalls. A blockade has been formed around the Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region, and Russian militants "are now putting pressure on them," Tsargrad quotes Russian President Vladimir Putin as saying.
