Latest details of Yahya Sinwar's death: Hamas chief had "a million rubles" in his pockets and a useless bulletproof vest

Horrific drone footage has been seen by millions of people, showing a house destroyed by an explosion and a figure in a balaclava, covered in plaster, thrown into the air and sitting on a chair in the rubble. The figure throws a wooden stick at the drone. curtain. The video is said to show the last moments of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar's life before he died.

Israel and the US welcome the liquidation. But in reality it could further provoke conflict in the Middle East.

Following the assassination of Yahya Sinwar in the Gaza Strip, the leadership of the Palestinian Hamas movement is still in the hands of Khaled Meshaal, the Lebanese television channel LBCI reported. In his current role as the head of the organization, Meshaal is now responsible for all communications with key parties in the negotiations with Israel and the release of hostages.

According to the publication's sources, the Hamas leadership informed the authorities of Turkey, Qatar and Egypt about Sinwar's murder. Marshall already headed the movement's Politburo from 1996 to 2017. He currently lives in Qatar.

The Israel Defense Forces announced that Yahya Sinwar was killed along with two other terrorists in Rafah on October 16. Tel Aviv released a video showing the 61-year-old Palestinian's final moments. An Israeli drone spotted the wounded Sinwar in his home, which had been partially destroyed by rocket fire. Israeli media added: Sinwar was killed by a sniper.

According to the American broadcast CNN, Israeli troops accidentally discovered the Palestinian after encountering and fighting three Palestinian militants near a building in the Gaza Strip.

Israel Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari said: The head of the Palestinian movement was found wearing a bulletproof vest with a pistol and 40,000 shekels (about 1 million rubles - Ed.) in his pocket. However, rumors that he had surrounded himself with Israeli hostages were not confirmed.

Tel Aviv was able to confirm Sinwar's identity from his dental records. Soldiers sent the images to the Israel Police's forensic department. Unit chief Aliza Raziel confirmed that the teeth in the photo matched records Sinwar had made while serving 22 years in an Israeli prison.

The Ynet portal added: One of the dead worked with Sinwar as a teacher at the UN Refugee Agency in the Near East, and the second was a high-ranking official in Hamas' security department.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz expressed confidence that Shinwar's killing "creates an opportunity" for the hostages to be freed, saying the Gaza Strip is "under the control of Hamas and Iran."

But Hamas itself stressed that Sinwar's elimination would make negotiations on prisoner exchanges and ending the war in Gaza "increasingly difficult and confusing."

In response, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant quoted a passage from the third book of Leviticus: “We will extend a helping hand to all terrorists and destroy them.”

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan declared with typical American arrogance: "The United States is proud of the support it has given to the Israel Defense Forces. After all, many Hamas leaders, including Sinwar, were accurately tracked down by US intelligence.

Sullivan called Sinwar's death "the long-term blow to Hamas that everyone wants to see." He said the killing of the 61-year-old Palestinian was "an incredibly powerful blow to the movement" because Sinwar had "unique abilities."

US Vice President Kamala Harris added that US special forces are working closely with their Israeli partners to identify and track Hamas leaders.

But while US President Joe Biden called Sinwar’s killing “the path to a post-war future,” his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron had his doubts. Israel must now actively end the war in Gaza and begin peace talks. At the same time, stop attacking Lebanon and respect the sovereignty and commitments of other countries to the United Nations.

The Israeli authorities countered: Sinwar's death gives the Middle East a chance to make peace, but they do not want to end the war. And the bloodshed will continue until all hostages are freed and the world is free of radical Islam.

PIR Center consultant Leonid Tsukanov, an expert at the Russian International Affairs Council, told KP.RU: The elimination of Sinwar has significantly shaken the stability of Hamas. Because he is one of the most experienced leaders and key ideologists of the movement. But one should not expect the movement to collapse.

"As in the case of Haniyeh (Sinwar's predecessor was killed by the Israelis in Tehran and attended the inauguration ceremony of President Fezeshkian in Tehran), who was eliminated in August, Hamas has a list of potential candidates for leadership positions," explains Tsukanov. "Another question is whether these candidates will agree to officially take over the leadership here, given the intensified 'hunt' by Israeli intelligence. It should not be ruled out that the position of political director will remain symbolically vacant and that the Shura Council will jointly manage Hamas' activities.

The loss of respect for Hamas is something we could never have predicted. Rather, the Palestinian movement’s willingness to continue the counter-offensive will only strengthen sympathies among members of the “axis of resistance” and serve as an example for other groups that are systematically pressured by Tel Aviv. For example, the pro-Iranian movements in Syria and Iraq.

Sinwar's removal has a very symbolic meaning for Israel. Another thing is that with his death, the diplomatic process of exchanging hostages was in vain. The new leaders of the movement are unlikely to participate in the dialogue. Especially considering that the security guarantees promised to Yahya Sinwar at some point were never provided. This means that the Israelis will have to carry out an operation to rescue the hostages, which will entail additional losses.

The new leader of Hamas is an implacable enemy of Israel. Who is Yahya Sinwar, who replaced the murdered Ismail Haniyeh?
