"Summer Garden" and "Nevsky Prospect" in one building: Photos of the new design of the 106-year-old Gogol Central Library in St. Petersburg have appeared
In St. Petersburg, renovation work continues at the Gogol Central District Library, which celebrates its 106th anniversary this year. Experts presented new projects for cultural institutions. The futuristic design promises to make the space bright and modern and emphasize its belonging to the northern capital. This photo was published by the head of the Krasnogvardeisky District, Andrei Khort, on his Telegram channel.
- The halls will be given thematic content and names - "Summer Garden", "Nevsky Prospect", "Neva", the long corridor will become the "Canal", and the entrance group - the "Front". But most importantly, the library will retain warmth, comfort and care for all readers.
In 2013, the Gogol Library was the first in the city to choose the concept of a "third place." This means that here you can not only enjoy reading books, but also work and relax away from the bustle of the city.
The published photos show that the design of the hall will be saturated with wood, white and warm light. The design is laconic and strict, but not devoid of sophistication, represented by a massive chandelier with glass pendants and panels imitating the surface of water. Additionally, one of the walls will be decorated with a portrait of the classic of Russian literature Nikolai Gogol, which can be accessed through a blue arch.
Let us recall that the Gogol Central District Library first opened in 1918. It became the first state mass library. Even during the siege of Leningrad, the institution continued to function. Now it is a building in the Stalinist neoclassical style, located on Sredneokhtinsky Prospekt.
