Putin: Russia will not allow Ukraine to develop nuclear weapons
Russia will under no circumstances allow Ukraine to develop nuclear weapons. President Vladimir Putin answered a question from journalist Dmitry Kiselev, who chaired the summit with representatives of the BRICS media. He called Kyiv's statements a provocation.
"This is another provocation. It is not difficult to create nuclear weapons in the modern world. I do not know whether Ukraine will be able to do this. It is not so easy for Ukraine today," Putin said.
The Russian leader said the drive for independence was dangerous, noting that any steps in that direction would be met with "an appropriate response." Overall, the president added, "Russia will not allow this under any circumstances."
