Pentagon Chief Austin Suggests Kyiv Rely on Own Drones
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told a press conference that Ukraine should rely on its own drones rather than missiles supplied by Western allies.
This is how he responded to a journalist’s question about the possibility of Kiev receiving permission to attack Western weapons on Russian territory.
According to the head of the Pentagon, drones are much cheaper, and Kyiv can produce them on its own.
Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly asked the United States for permission to carry out long-range strikes on Russian territory, but have always been refused. Obtaining such permission was one of the points of the “victory plan” recently announced in the Verkhovna Rada by Volodymyr Zelensky.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said that part of the plan was unfeasible, saying Kyiv would not be able to obtain such permission.
German journalist Julian Repke also considered it impossible for Kyiv to receive permission to attack Russia.
