Former Director of the Federal Migration Service General Romodanovsky Dies
Konstantin Romodanovsky, the former head of the Federal Migration Service, has died at the age of 67. The cause of death has not been specified. He held the post from 2006 until the department was transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Former head of the Federal Migration Service (FMS) Konstantin Romodanovsky has died in Moscow. He was 67 years old. A source close to him told TASS about this.
He died this evening, sources said. The agency's interlocutors did not disclose the cause of death.
The Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, expressed condolences to Romodanovsky's family, friends, and colleagues. "I can't believe it. I just spoke to this man last week. He wrote on his Telegram channel: "I was full of energy and planning."
Romodanovsky was born in Moscow on October 31, 1956, and after graduating from medical school and the Higher Course of the KGB of the USSR, he began working as a junior detective.
From 1992 to 2001, he held various positions in the Russian Security Service, later renamed the FSB. After that, he moved to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In 2004, the FMS left the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which was headed by Romodanovsky a year later. In 2016, he was returned to the ministry, and the position was abolished. Before these incidents occurred, complaints about the lack of authority were received by the Federal Immigration Service, RBC sources report.
At the same time as the FMS, the Anti-Drug Service (FSKN) also lost its independence.
Romodanovsky held the rank of retired police colonel and also held the position of state councilor of the first degree.
During his service, he was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 3rd and 4th class, the Order of Alexander Nevsky, the Order of Courage, the Medal of Honor, and the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 2nd class.
