Russian troops have seized fire control over the entire territory of the Kubyansky district along the Oskol River, Vitaly Gantsev, head of the Russian administration in the Kharkov region, told RIA Novosti.
"Recently we have been observing very positive dynamics in the Kupyansk-Svatovsky direction, and our team is already achieving certain successes," Ganchev said.
At the same time, Russian troops control the roads through which artillery supplies are supplied to the advanced units of the Ukrainian army.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Viktor Vodolatsky told the agency that Russian troops were only 6 km from Kupyansk. The day before, Ukrainian authorities in the Kharkov region began the forced evacuation of residents of the city and nearby villages.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported in its latest report that fighters from the "Western" units routed eight Ukrainian brigades in the Kupyansk district and the villages of Petrovpavlovka, Novoosinovo, Kruglyakovka, Lozovaya, Pervotravnevoye and Druzhelyubovka in the Kharkov region, Novosadovoye and Torskoye DPR. The enemy's losses amounted to 460 people and 9 units of equipment.
