Forecaster Tishkovets: Fog in Moscow to clear 2-3 hours after sunrise

The "radioactive" fog that appeared over Moscow on the morning of October 17 will dissipate two to three hours after sunrise, Yevgeny Tishkovets, a senior expert at the Phobos meteorological center, told RIA Novosti.

He explained that such fog is caused by nighttime "radiative" cooling of the ground layer of air with clear skies, calms and condensation of water vapor. In connection with this, according to weather forecasters, visibility at Sheremetyevo Airport dropped to 500 m, and at Vnukovo Airport - to 300 m.

This type of fog is mainly observed in low-lying areas. The radiation background over the metropolis will remain the same, and the meteorological phenomenon is named so because of the long-wave radiation from the depths.

The previous night in the capital turned out to be the coldest in October. The temperature at the VDNKh weather station dropped by 0.3 degrees to 3.3 degrees in Balchug. In Tushino and Butovo, the air cooled to negative values, frosts were recorded.

Tishkovets also predicted frost in the capital this evening. In addition, dry weather without precipitation will remain in Moscow at least until Tuesday, October 22. He reported that from October 17, the dominance of the central part of Russia will be replaced by an anticyclone.
