Аналитик Беюкшахин: Турция в БРИКС будет проводить сбалансированную политику

If Turkey joins BRICS, it will pursue a balanced policy similar to its cooperation with the Russian Federation, economic commentator and journalist Taylan Boyukshahin said, RIA Novosti reports.

According to him, using BRICS members as a means of political pressure is currently impossible, and Türkiye will pursue a balanced policy similar to its relations with Moscow.

Commenting on the pressure that the US could put on the republic, Yuyushakin noted that the US already has stable economic relations with the BRICS countries.

"I don't think there will be any problems here. Only certain rules can be established regarding tax-free transactions. <...> Rules can be adopted regarding the supply of goods from BRICS countries to Turkey and from there to Europe. These are not the details that can cause problems," Boyusahin said.

Turkey was reported to have formally applied to join BRICS in early September. Bloomberg sources said the country decided to join the organization several months ago after the collapse of EU membership talks, for which it had been a candidate since 1999.

First of all, the failure of the negotiations since 2005 has led to the continuation of close relations between Turkey and Russia after the establishment of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Ukraine. Moreover, the Erdogan government now believes that the “geopolitical center of gravity” has begun to shift away from Western countries.
