45 years later, a Kirov resident took up skating to participate in the Ice Age show 0+
In 2024, the Ice Age show was renamed "People's". Now ordinary people will perform in pairs with famous figure skaters. Olga Chulkova, a resident of Kirov, took part in the project. A video from the filming with her participation has already appeared on social networks and has aroused great interest among Olga's compatriots. The heroine told in an interview how at 68 she decided to start skating in front of viewers of federal channels.
45 years later. Kirovchane are pensioners. She devotes all her free time - from work and gardening to training on the ice and in the gym.
There are no rivals. Now Olga is actively training and participating in adult amateur competitions in her age category. Anyone from 18 to 80 years old can take part in this category.
"Dreams come true!" Kirov residents always wanted to take part in the "Ice Age" program.
When the casting for the film “The People’s Glacier” was announced last September, Olga applied without hesitation.
There were over 500 participants. Everyone sent videos of their performances, and the 80 best were chosen in absentia. My rent amount was included in this number. I was invited to Moscow for a direct casting. It was held in two stages. At the third stage, 30 people remained. Six people made it to the final. I couldn't get into it, but the most important thing for me was to hear the opinion of a senior leasing expert.
Meeting a star. The 68-year-old pensioner was nervous not only during skating, but also when meeting famous figure skaters.
I was worried about what the host Ilya Averbukh would say about my skating. The performance was complicated by the fact that the program, which took place on a full-size rink (30x60 meters), had to fit into an area of 20x40 meters. Also, the rink had no sides. I was afraid to fly to the judges or the spectators. I had to slow down to follow the music. The judges were very kind, and the spectators came only for the second show. They greeted me warmly.
It is difficult for Olga to single out her favorite element: jumps, spins and gliding on the edges of her skates. The Kirov resident dreams of taking part in the "People's Glacier" project again, reaching the final and participating in the project together with famous figure skaters. Filming of the program is ongoing, so the program with Olga's participation will be aired later.
