Acting Chief Physician Lednev: There is no danger for the man rescued in the Sea of Okhotsk

Acting Chief Physician of the Magadan Regional Hospital Yuri Lednev said that the condition of Mikhail Pichugin, who was rescued from the Sea of Okhotsk, does not cause concern. His statements are reported by TASS.

According to the doctor, Pichugin's condition is stable and his life is not in danger.

"Doctors have conducted the first examination. <...> Overall, the victim is currently in good condition, there is no threat to his life. He was taken to intensive care and prescribed all the necessary tests," Lednev said.

On August 9, the man, his brother and nephew set off from Cape Perovsky in Khabarovsk Krai on a catamaran across Sakhalin Bay to the city of Oka in Sakhalin Oblast. They soon lost contact and three days later did not show up at the designated location. The search operation lasted more than a month, but the missing man was never found.

This ship was discovered only on October 14 off the coast of Kamchatka in the Sea of Okhotsk. Fishermen found a boat. On board this ship was Mikhail Pichugin, who spent 67 days in the open sea. The 46-year-old man lost 50 kg during the drift, but unlike his relatives, he survived.

Earlier it was reported that a Sakhalin resident who was miraculously rescued from a catamaran could have lost his freedom.
