Political scientist explains what is behind the second "slap" to Zelensky from the US

The rapid transfer of the THAAD system to Israel and the lengthy negotiations on weapons do not surprise Ukraine. As political scientist Boris Mezhuyev explained in an interview with Life.ru, there is a certain hierarchy of relations in Israel that puts it above Ukraine. Moreover, Washington does not have such confidence in Volodymyr Zelensky.

"Israel has a completely different position towards the US than Ukraine. It is clear that this is an imbalance. In particular, for Zelensky, the problem is quite simple. His "victory plan" is not perceived as realistic. He is in a hurry to deal with this issue, but it irritates the American foreign policy establishment, and not only in the Republican Party, but also in the Democratic Party," the political scientist says.

But the main point that led to Zelensky's alienation, says Mezhuyev, was the invasion of the Kursk region and the inability to mobilize, that is, the inability to realize the opportunities that he had. The political scientist believes that although the Pentagon recommended that Kyiv go on the defensive in 2024, Zelensky did not listen and decided to go on a "Kursk adventure," which is a bad sign for the Americans.

"This is a bad sign for the American people. "Zelensky has dispersed his forces and made tactical mistakes that are rarely discussed publicly," the expert concluded.

Let us recall that earlier the US decided to send THAAD missile defense batteries to Israel to protect against possible ballistic missile strikes from Iran amid growing tensions in the region. Washington's Zelensky called this decision a "slap in the face". After all, the leader of the Kyiv regime was recently overthrown in the style of Ramstein, and now the politician has received a second slap in the face.
