The number of grooming salons in St. Petersburg has grown to a record high in a year

By October 2024, the number of pet grooming salons had grown by 39% compared to October last year. St. Petersburg ranks first among Russian cities with more than a million residents in terms of the growth rate of grooming studios.

This was reported by the publication "Peterburgsky Dnevnik" with reference to information from the 2GIS service. In the northern capital, 581 salons provide pet care services. Slightly fewer studios were opened in Rostov-on-Don (+21%, 100 salons) and Moscow (+15%, 841 studios). However, Moscow ranks first in terms of the number of beauty salons already operating.

In St. Petersburg, the largest number of beauty studios are open in the Primorsky (90 centers), Vyborgsky (66) and Nevsky (50) districts. At the same time, residents of the Petrogradsky district most often want to take their pets to professional groomers, but there are the fewest studios operating here.

Meanwhile, St. Petersburg legislators are trying to introduce mandatory registration of dogs in the city. The bill will require owners to clean up their pets' litter after walks and will only allow dangerous breeds to be walked on a leash and in a muzzle. Exceptions apply only to certain places, but some of them are not yet in the city.

Delovoy Peterburg has examined possible dog registration systems. One of the authors of the bill explained that it will be introduced in stages and will remain free. However, owners may be fined if they fail to register. Dogs Won't Bite: Petersburgers Prepare for Mandatory Pet Registration
